Dr. Otake has training and experience in serving the Connecticut Plastic Surgery market with specific areas of concentration in reconstructive and skin cancer surgery as well as in aesthetic procedures.

Reconstructive Surgery

The goal of reconstruction is to restore structure and function lost by virtue of congenital defect, trauma or surgery, for example to remove a tumor.

Craniofacial Surgery

Dr. Otake has extensive training in evaluation and correction of congenital and traumatic defects of the skull and face.

His techniques include minimal incisions to access and to correct deformities and fractures of the facial skeleton.

Head and Neck Reconstruction

Dr. Otake has worked closely with ENT surgeons to reconstruct the head and neck region after removal of cancer in this area. He is trained in microsurgical techniques to permit transfer of tissues from other parts of the body to facilitate reconstruction with reconnections of blood vessels and nerves performed under magnification.

Melanoma Surgery

Dr. Otake is a member of the Melanoma Unit, Yale Cancer Center. Engaging a team approach iin collaboration with oncologists, he brings long term care to patients with melanoma after surgical resection and reconstruction utilizing rearrangements of local tissues, or flaps. Dr. Otake is also actively involved in the management of other types of skin disorders such as basal cell and squamous cell cancers.

Aesthetic Procedures

Dr. Otake is active in sharing his expertise with organizations dedicated to the application and delivery of plastic surgery care to patients around the world.
